A chance to learn the ABC's of Organics and about Organic Agriculture Opportunities is a program being held at the Four Seasons Community Center, Caledonia, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4th. Speakers will be Jim, Riddle, Meg Moynihan, and Craig Sheaffer, along with local organic producers.
Jim Riddle is the University of Minnesota Organic Outreach Coordinator working out of the Southwest Research and Outreach Center at Lamberton. His topic is titled "ABC's of Organics" and will include rules and regulations to follow when getting started in organic agriculture. Meg Moynihan, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, will address "Organic Agriculture Opportunities', while Craig Shaeffer, U of MN Department of Agronomy & Plant Genetics, covers "Minimizing Risk in Organic Crop Production". There will also be several local organic producers describing their experience, along with question and answer time.

The event is presented by the Houston County EDA through its Commercial-Industrial and Ag-Business Subcommittee in collaboration with the Fillmore and Winona County EDA's.
