I have been told many times its only the sick people that need church. I think that is partly true. Many people are depressed because of their early life at home. Broken, because of an alcoholic dad. They will go to the tavern to get their "lift." Then end up an alcoholic, only to ruin another family.
Most people I think, go to church to keep our great country on the right track. There is where you learn right from wrong. Depressed people end up in the tavern, and they run their families, friends, and neighbors down to their level, and it makes them feel like they are the only good one of the bunch.
It is true - many in church are sick, trying to overcome a bad life of lying, cheating, stealing, rape and killing, and drugs. You name it.
God can change these people, if they are willing to do so. There are many that turned out great after meeting God. They did turn their lives around.
The people I have encountered from church are the best you want to meet. They are helpful, giving, not afraid to give of themselves to help others. And it is not for pay either.
