Winona State University offers a day camp for youth interested in getting involved in the community through hands-on service learning. It is available for students entering grades 6-12. The camp is held during the weeks of July 16-20 and July 23-27.
Students work in teams to build leadership and teamwork skills through their service to local United Way agencies. Summer of Service aims to help the students build self-confidence, experience the creativity of group dynamics and learn to view obstacles as opportunities for growth.
Teams include one WSU intern for every four to five students.
Tuition is $100 per session, with scholarships available.
The Minnesota City Bus Company will provide transportation to and from service sites; transportation is not provided to and from a student's home.
More information is available at the Summer of Service Web site at: www.winona.edu/sos/.
Registration is still available.
