Commencement exercises held June 1 at Riverway Learning Community (06/03/2007)
Riverway Learning Community, a tuition-free, Minnesota public charter school, serving 85 students in pre-primary through 12th grade, held graduation commencement exercises on Friday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony was held at the school at 115 Iowa Street in Minnesota City.

Riverway Learning Community's Class of 2007 included four graduating seniors: Alyssa Amber Boyum, daughter of Sandra and Kent Boyum of Winona, Anandi Ilithyia Rice, daughter of Laura Rice of Kellogg, Tyler Mathew Luby, son of Lori and Joe Luby of Winona, and Corey Ray Yuman, son of Deanna Bartsh and Ray Yuman of Winona. The graduation ceremony included a speech by each graduate, highlights of their accomplishments, a photo presentation of their life, and a portfolio display of their academic work.

Two of the Riverway graduates participated in Post Secondary Education Option (P.S.E.O.), attending college classes and earning credits for both high school and college. A. Ilithyia Rice was a part-time P.S.E.O. and Alyssa Boyum was a full-time student at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical

Riverway Learning Community is a seventh-year charter school sponsored by Audubon Center of the North Woods. With an emphasis on developing independent, self-motivated learners, who direct their own learning, Riverway uses an integrated, thematic, and project-based curriculum, incorporating individualized learning plans for all students. The Riverway of learning is enhanced by use of the community as classroom, comprehensive parent involvement, and community resource people.
