SMU music workshops (06/03/2007)
It's still not too late to register for the Jazz Combo & Improvisation or Music Production workshops to be held Tues and Thurs. afternoons in June at Saint Mary's University in Winona, MN. The details are as follows:

Summer Jazz Combo & Improv Workshop 2007

4:00-6:00 pm Tuesday & Thursday afternoons June 12,14, 19, 21, 26 & 28

Non-residential

For students entering grades 10-12

The purpose of the Summer Jazz Workshop 2007 is to provide an opportunity for area high school students to develop their skills at performing jazz in a small combo setting. Students will be placed in groups based on their age, background and experience playing jazz. Students interested in attending should have at least one year of high school jazz band experience. The workshop will close with a concert for family and friends at 7 pm June 28th in Figliulo Recital Hall

Location:

Figliulo Recital Hall in the Performance Center and St. Yon's Hall. Both are located at the Winona, MN campus. Dates & Times:

Tues. June 12 (3:00 pm start on June 12 only)

June, 14, 19, 21, 26 Setup/ tune 3:30 - 4:00 pm 4:00 -5:30 pm rehearsals

June 28 (4:00-5:30 pm & 7 pm concert on June 28th)

Faculty: Dr. John C. Paulson, director & woodwinds professor of music at Saint Mary's University (26 years) Music Industry Program director & director of Jazz Studies and Sam Courtier, SMU Music Technology major & guitarist. Other faculty to be determined based on registration.

Cost: $125 per student except bass players ($75) T shirt included.

Summer Music Production Workshop 2007

1:00-3:00 pm Tuesday & Thursday afternoons June 12,14, 19, 21, 26 & 28

Non-residential

For students entering grades 10-12

The purpose of the Music Production Workshop 2007 is to provide an opportunity for area high school students to gain an introduction to the exciting world of digital audio recording and music production. Students will utilize the audio work stations on campus to record their own projects on computers using professional audio software programs like Digital Performer and Pro Tools. These projects will be featured as a part of the Jazz Workshop Concert June 28th at 7:00 pm in the Figliulo Recital Hall along with the Summer Jazz Workshop combos.

St. Yon's Hall. on the main campus in Winona, MN.

Dates & Times: (Tues/ Thurs. afternoons)

June 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 & 28 1:00-2:15 pm class 2:30-3:00 pm help with projects

June 28 1:00-2:15 class in Figliulo 2:15-3:00 pm help with projects in Figliulo Recital Hall June 28 7:00 pm concert Figliulo Recital Hall
