The lies we tell our children (06/10/2007)
From: Lorayne Wernecke

Winona

Have you ever told your child about the "Tooth Fairy," and of course the little fat man in the red suit, and the bunny who lays eggs at Easter time?

Well aren't these all lies that are made up by man to get them all excited about Christmas and Easter? When really these are two of the most important days in Jesus' life.

Christmas is when God sent Jesus Christ to earth through Mary in Bethlehem, and there was no place for them in the inn. They had to find a place to sleep in the barn with the cattle, and when Jesus was born, Mary laid Him in the manger for His bed. As He grew up, He worked in His (earthly) father's carpenter shop, and also traveled around telling everyone who would listen to Him that He was the Son of God who came to earth to save everyone who would believe in Him, from their sins.

He also picked twelve disciples to travel and teach with Him. Many people were saved. When King Herod heard this he was very angry. He was afraid the new king would take over his throne.

By the age of 33 many people were following Jesus, and many others wanted to kill Him. He was arrested, and crucified on the cross with two other criminals. He died and was laid in the tomb where He stayed for three days.

Now where all these stories about Santa, his elves, and flying reindeer came from is hard to tell. There are all kinds of fairy tales, but to tell our children they are true is very dangerous. Because now when we want to tell them the truth about Jesus, they just don't want to believe, because then later their parents told them all the other stories were just fairy tales, and this must be too, and so they will be lost in their sins.

Just a few weeks ago the same thing happened.

Easter is a very holy and important day in Jesus' life, because He rose from the dead and is alive today sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

We can pray to Him, ask for forgiveness for all our sins, and for salvation to live with Him, and also for Him to come into our hearts and guide our lives here on earth. He will be very happy to do this and we will be saved. Yes, born again in Him.

Now, all the crazy stories about Easter bunnies laying eggs, or chocolate bunnies, these are all lies we tell our children, and again when we want them to know and believe that Jesus rose from the dead they won't believe it and be saved either, and you are sending them on the road to hell.

Now do you realize what you are doing by telling these fairy tales to your children instead of telling them the truth?

I pray you will take all this seriously and tell them the truth.
