Fern Hike in South Park Woods
7:00 PM, June 30
Houston, MN
Prepare to drool over the lush growth of ferns as you explore the new hiking trail in Houston's 118-acre South Park woods. Ferns come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and you'll get to see at least five or more different species along this approximately one-mile trail. Houston Nature Center naturalist Karla Kinstler will be your guide.
Wear good shoes (not sandals) and long pants that can be tucked into socks, since the deer that share parts of the trail also share their ticks. Insect repellent is also recommended in case the mosquitoes are out in force.
Meet at the Houston Nature Center at 7 PM and we'll carpool the one mile to South Park. The Houston Nature Center is located one block north of the intersection of Hwys 16 & 76 in Trailhead Park in Houston. This program is free and open to the public. For more information contact the nature center at 507-896-4668 or nature@acegroup.cc.
