Visit the HOUSTON Overlook Sign by Car Saturday, July 28, 7:00 PM
Meet at the Houston Nature Center
Ever want to go up to see the huge stone "HOUSTON" sign on the hill north of Houston but didn't know who to call or how to get there? Here's your chance! All landowners and renters involved have granted the public permission to visit the sign as part of this special program only. (To visit at any other time you must secure permission from the landowners on your own.) Many years ago the only way to get to the sign was a very strenuous hike on foot, but these days we can cheat and drive to within 100 yards of the sign! We'll meet at the Houston Nature Center at 7:00 PM sharp to carpool to the top of the hill. You'll find out a little about the history of the sign, get to see the remnant goat prairie around the sign, and take in the beautiful view of Houston in full swing during Houston Hoedown Days.
