All the wonderful things Jesus does for us (08/26/2007)
From: Lorayne Wernecke

Winona

The Old Testament has many great stories of the heroes and the good works they did for their people and families.

I like the verses very much of the 23rd Psalm and its meaning. He starts out by telling us He is "our Shepherd, as well as the flocks He cares for." This means He loves us as He does the little lamb He many times carries on His shoulder. He will tell us the work He wants us to do, the people we should work and talk to and to teach of Him and His work.

Also of the reason God sent Him to the earth to preach of God's word, and to suffer and die for our sins, and to forgive us for these sins.

In the next verse He tells us that all our needs will be met, and the supply is endless. All we need to do is to ask Him for them and they will be supplied, according to His will.

He provides for our resting place and shows us where to find it. He also wants us to rest in His arms and know He is there with us.

"He leadeth me beside the still waters and restores my soul." This is where we hear His word preached and taught. This is also where we will learn of the work He wants us to do for Him, and what He wants us to be doing with our lives.

As He shows His path of righteousness He will also show us His purpose and what He wants us to be doing for Him.

We are His arms, hands, and feet and legs. Also His eyes and ears for Him here on earth. This is His purpose for creating us here on earth.

Walking through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for He is there protecting us. This is the testing he takes us through in our lives to know how we will come through and how He can use each one of us best for His work. For He is with us each step of the way when we ask Him.

Here again His rod and His staff will comfort us. Again, He is our Shepherd and will lead us as we follow Him each day of our lives.

He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. This tells us there is no fear of the enemies to be able to be seated right in their presence and enjoy a wonderful meal and not be concerned about their being in the area at the time. He is always our protector and very able to protect us when we trust Him.

The covering of oil He pours on our head is a covering of His love He places there as we are willing to place ourselves under His protection, in prayers to Him at all times, knowing the devil had no power stronger than His.

The beautiful picture of a waterfall shows Him filling our cup and running it over with His love, caring and protection. So we can feel Him at all times. There is never a shortage of the great love for us.

There again we can know His great love for us when we trust Him and talk to Him in prayer. Knowing that goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives. What a great blessing we have.

The final picture is the great wide stairway to heaven we all desire to climb with the protecting angel waiting for us.

King David wrote this while waiting on the Lord for a blessing.

I pray you will make sure you know the Lord, ask His forgiveness for your sins, ask for salvation, and ask Jesus into your heart and know you are saved.

Many Christians recite this as a prayer along with the Lord's Prayer through His disciples.
