Czapiewski, Dorothy

Dorothy Czapiewski, age 97, of Grand Meadow, formerly of Winona, died March 25, 2008, at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow.

Dorothy was born on March 21, 1911, in Wabasha, MN, to George and Cora (Barton) Pfielsticker. She attended and graduated from Wabasha High School. On May 20, 1931, Dorothy married Daniel Czapiewski and on January 11, 1958, they were remarried at St Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona.

She belonged to the Eagles Auxiliary and was a past president. Dorothy worked for 20 years at the Winona Community Memorial Hospital in the food service. For many years, she belonged to the homemakers organization in Fountain City, WI. She enjoyed gardening, especially the vegetables and the rose gardens, and was an excellent cook.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert (Janet) Czapiewski of Spring Valley, MN, daughter, Maxine (Allen) Johnson of Vermillion, S.D., 12 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren, four great-great- grandchildren, and a sister, Maxine Lokken of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1973, grandchild, Matthew, great-grandchild, Owen, four sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral mass for Dorothy Czapiewski will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona, MN, with Msgr. Donald W. Grubisch officiating.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona, MN.
