Exciting finish for the Knights of Columbus League
Coming into Thursday XS Energy had a three point lead over the second place team 5th Street Liquor, who were also their opponent on this final night of league bowling. With the seven point scoring system they needed to take 3 points to secure their title.
XS Energy came out strong in the first game and won by 111 points, getting 2 points and putting them in good position to take total pins. But 5th Street came back strong winning the second game by 68 pins. Needing to win by 44 to tie and force a roll-off, 5th Street chipped away all game then came on big in the ninth and tenth to win by 60 points.
Bowling in the Winona's only late night league it was nearing 11:30 p.m. when the roll-off began. With only two teams bowling the lanes got pretty loud as the energy reached another level despite the late hour. XS Energy charged out to a good lead that 5th Street was not able to overcome and the XS team completed their quest with a 1112 to 1058 victory.
