teers, staff and dignitaries in celebrating the Grand Reopening of Whitewater State Park on Saturday June 7. Several activities (listed below) are scheduledthroughout the day with the actual Grand Opening Ceremony at 1pm.
Cake, coffee and lemonade will be provided starting at noon at the visitor center. Park permits are not required.
Whitewater State Park was closed from August 19, 2007, the date of the historic flood, until March 1, 2008. Since then, the phased reopening has continued as repairs continue on damaged infrastructure. Most of the park's recreational opportunities have been restored, though work will continue on certain roads and bridges into 2009.
Everyone that knows and loves Whitewater State Park has felt a need to celebrate the comeback of this very special place. Please join us in this Grand Reopening

Experts from Garmin and Best Buy will show us how to use
GPS (Global Positioning System) units and introduce an
exciting new sport! Find out about Minnesota State Parks'
Geocaching History Challenge. Reservations are required.

8-9pm Live Eagle! See and photograph a bald eagle up
close! Mary Beth Garrigan, Director of the National Eagle
Center, will present the eagle.
All day Whitewater State Park and the Flood of 2007 - This
new DVD will be showing in the visitor center. Inquire at
the visitor center's front desk. All of these programs meet at
the Whitewater Valley Visitor Center (Park Office) and are
provided free of charge.
