Whitewater State Park is reopened and in full swing for summer after last August's flooding. A Fishing Festival will be held at the park on Friday, June 27 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Children in grades 1-6 accompanied by an adult chaperone are invited to attend this event. Groups and clubs are also welcome.
Participants will have the opportunity to celebrate the role fish play in the history, foods, traditions, art, recreation and social customs of our many cultures. Stations at the event include fish netting and identification, fish storytelling and printing, cooking with fish and other water animals, casting and safety demonstrations and trout fishing.
To pre-register, call Whitewater State Park at 507-932-3007, extension 0. Pre-registration is required. The event is free; however, a state park vehicle permit is required. A daily pass costs $5.00, an annual pass costs $25.00, and both can be purchased at the park's visitor center.
