The Centerville Curling Club High School Curling Team, all seniors from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School, has captured the WI State High School Curling Championships this afternoon by defeating Portage 13-6 in the finals. The Line up was Curtis Sobye shooting lead; Andy Duckworth, second; Andy Schwertel, third; and Cam Delaney, fourth.
Sobye, just recovering from knee surgery, held the broom, and Delaney was Vice-Skip.
This is the first Boys State High School Championship to come home to Centerville since the Peplinski Rink captured the title in 1989. The won the Northern District Championships with a 3-0 record to move on to the State Championships this weekend at Pardeeville, WI.
The Centerville Rink lost to Portage in their first meeting yesterday 9-7. But they were not to be denied as they defeated Portage today in the Double Elimination format.
