Composting program 7:00 PM Saturday, August 23
More than 60% of household waste is recyclable yet it finds its way into landfills. Only 8% of Americans compost their waste materials that could easily be recycled. Have a greener household by learning how to compost everything from vegetable and fruit scraps to coffee grounds to dryer lint. Brenda Pohlman, Houston County Master Gardener, will share tips on how to safely and easily compost materials from your home. Information will also be shared regarding compost bin construction and how to use compost around your home.
This program is free and open to the public. The Houston Nature Center is located one block north of the intersection of Highways 16 and 76 in Trailhead Park in Houston. For more information contact the nature center at 507-896-4668 or nature@acegroup.cc.
