Can things get any crazier than they were opening weekend? Uber-stud Tom Brady is done for the year and the rookie quarterbacks went 2-0. That said, you can thank God that there are some things that aren’t so crazy… like this weeks picks.
We hear a lot about the Mendenhall’s and the McFadden’s, but, outside of some faint preseason buzz, there hasn’t been much said about another promising rookie, Chris Johnson from Tennessee.
Last week in his debut - against a solid Jaguars defense - he racked up 127 all purpose yards and scored a touchdown in limited action. This week he will get more touches against a Cincinnati defense that allowed a rookie quarterback to scramble for a 38 yard touchdown. Grab him and start him.
Other safe bets: Larry Johnson versus Oakland, Eli Manning at St. Louis,
I think it is time for you to sit Matt Hasselbeck. At least until he gets a few warm bodies in the receiving corp. Last week Burleson added his name to the ever growing Seattle receiver infirmary (they have four starting wide receivers that are either out or hurt).
This week Seattle plays San Francisco who are gaining some respectability on defense. Look elsewhere.
Other benchwarmers: Jamal Lewis versus Pittsburgh, David Gerrard versus Buffalo.
See you next week.
