Heidi Baudhuin, Haley Christensen and Sarah Ortega were chosen to perform in the Middle Level State Honor Band, sponsored by the Minnesota Band Director’s Association. Baudhuin, Christensen and Ortega were selected from over 310 music students who auditioned this fall.
Baudhuin, an 8th grader, plays the trumpet and is the daughter of Ellen and Christian Baudhuin. Christensen, also an 8th grader, plays clarinet and is the daughter of Carl and Kimberly Christensen. Ortega, a 7th grader, plays the baritone saxophone. She is the daughter of Lori and William Ortega. All three students play in the Winona Middle School Bands.
The students participating will have the opportunity to work with some of the finest music educators in the state. This year’s conductor is Lee Kjesbo, retired band director from Buffalo High School. They will rehearse with Mr. Kjesbo on April 18 and 19, and then perform a concert at 3pm on Sunday, April 19, in the Red Wing High School Auditorium.
