CALLING ALL 2009 WINONA EARTH DAY EXHIBITORS!

MAGIC MAMA PLAYING AT WINONA EARTH DAY

The Winona Earth Day Celebration is proud to announce Magic Mama Environmental Education taking part in the festivities on April 18, 2009 at WSU Courtyard. Magic Mama is an eco-edu-trainer who specializes in music, art and environmental education. She is a woman speaking musically for the Earth. SWIM CLUB – SIGN UP ANYTIME AT THE PARK & REC OFFICE!

Course days and times are: Monday & Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Monthly Rate: Unlimited Swim - $25.00, 2 times per week - $20.00, 1 time per week - $15.00.

ADULT FITNESS SWIM

Did you make a New Years resolution?

Course times: Morning Swim- Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 6:15-7:15 a.m. and Saturday 8:15-10:15 a.m. Evening Swim – Monday & Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Monthly Rate: Unlimited Swim - $25.00, 2 times per week - $20.00, 1 time per week - $15.00.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This American Red Cross Program is designed to teach the participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries. A pre-course test of swimming 300 yards and brick retrieval is included at the beginning of the course. For details on the April and May sessions visit www.cityofwinona-mn.com.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

Instructor candidates (16 years +) will be trained to teach water safety, including the American Red Cross, Learn to Swim program. Participants must demonstrate maturity and responsibility throughout the course. Visit www.cityofwinona-mn.com for course details.

LODGE AND SHELTER RENTALS

Starting January of each year, you can reserve for the current year and the following year!!!! Need a lodge or shelter for your family gathering, picnic, wedding, baby shower, graduation, birthday party, etc. You can choose from Holzinger Lodge, Lake Park Lodge, Valley Oaks Lodge, Jaycee Shelter, Lions Shelter, Kiwanis Shelter, Latsch Shelter, Hiawatha Valley Marines Shelter, Windom Park or Rose Garden Gazebo, Unity Park and the Bandshell. We are now taking bookings for the current year and for 2010. Reservations are required in person, full payment and a valid driver’s license. EQUIPMENT RENTAL

Having a picnic or event and you need a volleyball, basketball, bingo, Frisbees, horseshoes, and/or gunny sacks, etc? Stop in and complete the rental request form at least 3 days prior to when you need the equipment. Payment is required with completion of the rental request form.

RECREATION CENTER HOURS AND INFORMATION

East Recreation (ERC) Regular Open Hours: Monday – Friday 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Saturday – Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

SOFTBALL, BASEBALL, SOCCER FIELDS, ETC – ALL CITY FIELDS: PLEASE STAY OFF!!!!

The fields are all too wet to use right now with ice in many areas. If you go on the fields now, they will be torn up and you may destroy the grass for the entire season. When fields are dry enough and can be used, we will let you know. Then you can stop in the Park & Rec. office in City Hall to make reservations for their use.

ADULT SOFTBALL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING FOR WOMEN’S, CO. REC. AND MEN’S LEAGUES

Registration for all adult softball teams is now closed, but please remember to attend the mandatory organizational meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at City Hall, Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be for all Women’s, Co. Rec. and Men’s managers. A manager or a team representative from each team must be present at these meetings. The manager will receive all the necessary materials, along with game balls. We will go over the rules and you’ll receive your schedules as well. Do not miss the meeting!!
