The Hiawatha Valley Education District is pleased to announce that Glenn E. Haupt, currently Special Education Director of CESA #3 (Cooperating Education Service Agency) in Fennimore, Wisconsin has accepted the offer to serve as its Executive Director. Haupt will succeed Mr. Gary Woodward who has served as Executive Director since 1983.
Haupt holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology/Social Work from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and a Specialist’s Degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He currently is completing his Educational Leadership Program at Winona State University and will be endorsed for a superintendent’s license this spring. Prior to his current position as Director of Special Education, Haupt held administrative positions in Soldotna, Alaska and Fort Dodge, Iowa. Ron Pagel, Chair of the HVED Board of Directors, said that Haupt is the leader that the district needs for the future. “Gary Woodward has earned his retirement. Over the past 26 years, he has transformed the Hiawatha Valley Education District, and made it possible for literally thousands of children to address their learning challenges. Just last year, he was recognized by the Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health for his accomplishments with the MACMH’s 2008 Outstanding Service Award. We are fortunate to have attracted Glenn Haupt to succeed Gary. He has the training and the experience to lead our teachers and staff as they continue to provide services to students and their parents in the 20 school districts and charter schools that are part of our consortium.”
Haupt will begin his duties on July 1.
