The quarterly board meeting of Garvin Brook Disaster Relief Fund was held recently held at the Riverway Learning Community. After agenda approval, the members spent time remembering the volunteer work of board member, Judith (Jaye) Fritz, who passed away in March.
Reports were made on the ongoing committees for 2009. These include the Micheel Memorial in Stockton, release of the DVD of the environmental and economical effects of the 2007 flooding of Garvin Brook and the CD of the song written by Pamela McNeill and dedicated to flood families during Minnesota City Day, May 16, 2009 along additional funding for the project made by Winona Foundation and local residents. The next community meal in Minnesota City was held the end of March and a community meal is pending for the end of April for Stockton.
New projects approved were a memorial for Jaye Fritz in Minnesota City, collaboration of a dedication of the bridge in Minnesota City with the City Council, coordination with the Minnesota Landscaping Association, GBDRF, residents of Minnesota City, Goodview and Stockton with work needs to be done on lawns, driveways and yards plants and trees.
