The Buffalo County Department of Health and Human Services will offer the following health screenings and services in May.
Women Infant Children (WIC) Clinics. Buffalo and Pepin residents are served by the Buffalo-Pepin WIC Program, headquartered in Alma. WIC is a preventive health and nutrition education program for eligible women (pregnant, breastfeeding or postpartum); infants; and children under 5 years of age. WIC serves families who are at or below 185% of the federal poverty level and who have a health or nutrition need. The program provides nutritious food; nutrition education; and health screening for growth, anemia, and lead poisoning. Clients are seen by appointment only at the following clinics; please call the number below to schedule an appointment.

Immunization Clinics. Buffalo County DHHS offers vaccines to the public; many vaccines are free of charge to qualifying children through 18 years of age. Adults may get Tetanus boosters (Td) free of charge or the Hepatitis B series for $110.00, which covers 3 doses over 6 months. Parents don’t need to be present at the clinic but must sign the State of Wisconsin consent form. If someone else is accompanying your child to the immunization clinic, you can get the consent form in advance and send it with your child by calling 608-685-4412. Appointments are not needed. Infants receiving a vaccine for the first time will need to stay 20 minutes after the vaccine is given. Please arrive at least 45 minutes before closing time. If you have had a recent change in Health Insurance or your provider no longer accepts BadgerCare, you are welcome to attend our immunization clinics.
