Do you need a new computer or fax machine? Want to install Internet access or upgrade to high speed Internet? Need accounting or herd management software? How about a camera in your calving area, freestall or parlor?
Minnesota Dairy Initiatives-Southeast Region, Inc. desires to assist dairies in the Southeast region of Minnesota (Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca & Winona counties) to upgrade technology in their dairy business by offering a Technology Grant. Dairies enrolled with MDI wanting to update or purchase new technology on their farm will be reimbursed up to $500 for their purchase with an approved application; non-enrolled dairies will be reimbursed up to $250. If the non-enrolled dairy enrolls in the Dairy Initiatives program within 60 days of the application approval, they will be able to receive another $250. This is in addition to the grant dollars that the enrolled dairy has coming from their sign-up.
The producer is required to fill out an application and submit it to the Minnesota Dairy Initiatives-Southeast Region, Inc. office for Board approval. Funds are limited and are on a first come, first served basis with approval given to qualified applicants until funding has expired. Funding not guaranteed until Board approval is received. Once the application has been approved, the grant recipient has 60 days to purchase the technology applied for and submit a receipt to the MDI office, or the funds will then become available for the next dairy producer.
Technology Grant guidelines and applications are available at the MDI office by contacting Deb Pike by phone at (507)534-1213, by email at dairyinitse@embarqmail.com, or by mail at P.O. Box 624, Plainview, MN 55964. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: June 15, 2009.
