The Winona Area Public Schools will be mailing Early Childhood Screening invitations to families of three and four year olds residing in the school district.
Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how a child is growing and developing. Its purpose is to detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get help before they start school. If such concerns are identified at the screening, children are referred to appropriate professionals for further assessment and service or treatment if it is needed. While screening can occur any time between a child’s third birthday and kindergarten entry, the optimal age for screening is between ages three and four. Early Childhood Screening is mandatory for children entering kindergarten in a public school.
If your child is three or four years old, has not completed screening yet, and you do not receive the mailing, please call (507)494-0900. To view the screening dates and schedule an appointment, visit the Early Childhood Screening website at www.winona.k12.mn.us/communityed
