Woman arrested for tearing man’s genitals (12/23/2009)
By Sarah Squires
Police arrested a Winona woman Friday after she allegedly tugged a man’s genitals hard enough to cause a rip requiring stitches.

Sheila Mae Baker, 54, was referred to the county attorney for possible charges of third degree assault, domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call. Police said that she was intoxicated and arguing with a man on the 850 block of East Fifth Street when the incident occurred.

Police arrived at just after 10 p.m. Friday on a report of a domestic disturbance. There, they found the victim in a T-shirt and bloody underwear. Police said the man pulled down his underclothes and showed them where his genitals had been torn, and was then transported by ambulance to Winona Health Services for stitches.

The man told police that Baker had been drinking and was angry, and he was trying to stay out of her way. He said that he was in the kitchen when Baker came in to add ice to her drink, grabbed his genitals and pulled.

Police said that Baker had no signs of injury herself, and that at the time of her arrest, she told police he’d injured himself. During a follow-up interview on Monday, police said Baker claimed that the victim had been choking her when she kneed him in the groin.
