Maple syrup making demonstrations at Whitewater (03/10/2010)
|
|
Celebrate spring in Whitewater State Park’s sugar bush! On Saturday mornings and afternoons March 13, 20 and 27 the park will be offering maple syrup making demonstrations. Each activity will introduce the long history of maple syrup and sugar making, as well as the equipment and procedures used. Participants will tap trees, gather and boil sap and best of all taste pure maple syrup! How does a maple sundae sound? There is no cost for the activity, but state park vehicle permits are required. Daily permits are $5 and annual permits $25. Call Whitewater State Park at (507) 932-3007, ext. 0 during weekday business hours for exact times, additional information and reservations. School, scout, 4-H and other organized groups can call the same number and extension 224 to schedule an activity specifically for their group.
