DAC students making ‘cents’ (03/10/2010)

Students at Dakota Area Community School (DACS) collected Pennies for Patients to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society during the week of February 8th. This program was arranged by the Kindergarten/1st Grade Teacher, Mrs. Jessica Marish. Students teamed together, each contributing a little and the total was an amazing $200.47. The School made their goal of $150.00, so they were able to turn some of the DACS staff into ice cream sundaes. The staff members who were turned into ice cream sundaes were: Mrs. Jessica Marish (K/1 Teacher), Mrs. Tina Beckman (2/3 Teacher), Mr. Brandon Mehling (4/5 Teacher), and Michelle Boelter (Secretary). “I am so proud of our students,” said Darin Shepardson, school director at DACS. “One student or one penny acting alone doesn’t accomplish much, but when we all team together, anything is possible. Our students and staff did a great job of giving selflessly to help children and others battling blood cancer.”
