Join European-trained chef Monique Hooker to learn how to turn our local wild edible foods into mouth-watering delicacies! Monique will help you learn to identify some edible wild plants that are in season, demonstrate how to turn them into tasty dishes like stuffed daylilies, pickled milkweed buds, sun-choke bisque and more. And yes, you do get to sample them!
Besides having worked alongside famous east-coast chefs, Monique has also hosted a cooking show and operated a cooking school. She has written a wonderful book, “Cooking with the Seasons.” You’ll find her personality positively delightful.
This program is open to the public, but come early to be assured a seat! A $5 donation per person is requested to help defray expenses. The Houston Nature Center is located one block north of the intersection of Highways 16 and 76 in Houston in Trailhead Park.
