Plus shipping and handling (12/12/2010)
by Jamie Smith

On TV, buying one item gets the second one free. The free item has strings attached. Check out those shipping and handling charges. If the extra charges arenít paid Ė no free item. Letís just say it out loud - the item isnít free.

Just about every church in Winona teaches that salvation is free. Christ paid the price. But just as discussed above, there are shipping and handling

charges. Christ did not pay for those charges. You must pay for them. There must be faith, either one time or continual, proper behavior, church participation, ritual participation or other requirements depending on the type of church. If these extra works arenít performed there is no salvation. Letís just say it out loud Ė salvation isnít free.

What if salvation were truly free? What if it were a gift given by God and fully paid for by Christ? What if we did nothing to get it since we had nothing to give? What if Godís wisdom were engaged as He created each and every person?

What if some will believe while they were alive while the rest will believe upon resurrection? What if there were no shipping and handling charges? What if this is exactly what is stated in an accurately translated Bible?† I would say that is a faith I can believe in.
