he appeasement of one - good? (01/09/2011)
From: David Foss

Galesville, Wis.

One person is upset at the sight of a cross, so letís remove all the crosses in America. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset hearing Merry Christmas!, so letís only allow people to say Happy Holidays! Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset by the Pledge of Allegiance, so letís not allow the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited in the classroom. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset about saying a prayer in school, so letís take prayer from the classrooms in America. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset about the mere mention of God or Jesus Christ, so letís not allow anyone to mention God or Jesus Christ. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset about proselytizing the message of salvation to those who are lost, so letís not allow the lost to be told the truth of Scripture. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset about the preaching of Godís word, so letís not allow the preaching of Godís word. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset about mentioning God or Jesus Christ at graduation, so letís not allow this to continue. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset about praying before a sporting event, so letís not allow this to continue. Letís give in and appease the one.

One person is upset upon hearing Happy Thanksgiving!, so letís just say Happy Turkey Day! Letís give in and appease the one.

Here is an example. Hundreds upon hundreds of people go into a store and all but one person says, Merry Christmas! Then the manager of the store decides not to allow any of his or her employees to say Merry Christmas! to anyone. This makes sense? No! This decision is absolutely nonsensical! After all, who is providing for the managerís livelihood? Isnít it the hundreds that come into his or her store? One personís purchases are never going to keep the managerís business afloat. Shouldnít the manager of any store be concerned about pleasing the hundreds that are coming into his or her place of business? Of course. It couldnít be more clear. Appeasing one person, while offending hundreds, is senseless. Should this be so difficult for all business folk to grasp? It couldnít be any simpler, yet many business owners continue to offend the masses.

Has the appeasement of one been good for America? A resounding no! We are no longer a nation going right; we are now a nation going wrong. It is never wise to appease the one (getting rid of that which is good), while angering everyone else. There will always be those who will oppose anything that stands for what is right and good, but we should never give in to their wicked demands. No, the appeasement of one is never good.

Ponder Isaiah 5:20, Proverbs 17:15
