Winona Police

Saturday, January 15

•Police received a report of a 19-year-old male who said he was assaulted by a 27-year-old male at an apartment at Morningside Terrace. According to the complainant, he was at the apartment of some female friends and touched the leg of a woman he was interested in. She told him to remove his hand, then another man came over to him and punched him in the face. The complainant was bleeding profusely from his nose and drove himself to the hospital to be treated for a suspected broken nose. The women in the apartment told police that the man had been making unwanted advances that made a woman there uncomfortable, and that she had asked friends to help extricate her from the situation. The women say the suspect did slap the injured man in the face first and then punched him.

•Police were called to Hardees at 5:09 a.m. on the report of a 27-year-old woman who came in crying with blood on her shirt and no pants on. The woman said her boyfriend came to her home on the 100 block of East Sixth Street intoxicated and began punching her all over her body. She told officers during the struggle he pulled out a clump of her hair, and that the blood on her shirt was his because she hit him in the face. The woman said during the struggle she managed to flee the apartment with just her car keys. The woman would not divulge the name of the boyfriend, but officers accompanied her to her home and found blood on her sheets and a clump of blonde hair that appeared to match the woman’s. Police located the boyfriend, who denied coming to the residence. The matter remains under investigation.

•At 12:57 a.m. police received a report of a city snow plow driven by Jeffery Robert Weifenbach striking a parked vehicle owned by Kathryn Ann Woyda of St. Peter at Mill and Wilson streets.
