•At 5:21 p.m. police received a report of a shoplifter at Royal Tobacco. An employee there told police that a woman stole $2.99 in tobacco filters. Her Wisconsin license plate number was taken down and police are investigating.
•At 1:27 p.m. police responded to a two-car accident at Sixth and South Baker streets. Roger Burnel Peckover, 58, of Winona, was cited for inattentive driving after he rear-ended another car at the intersection.
Wednesday, February 9
•At 2:05 a.m. police cited Abigayle Lee Verthein, 23, of Winona, for hosting a loud party on the 450 block of East Eighth Street.
Thursday, February 10
•At 1:25 p.m. police responded to a hit-and-run accident on the 400 block of Liberty Street. Police received a report and license plate number for a woman who had been backing out of a parking spot and struck a parked vehicle, then drove away. Police later found Irene Grace Poblocki, 85, of Winona, and cited her for hit-and-run in a property damage accident.
•AT 10:15 p.m. police responded to a two-car accident at Main and 11th streets. Benjamin Anthony Hammel, 20, of Eyota, was cited for failure to yield after he struck another vehicle in the intersection.
•At 3:40 p.m. police responded to a two-car accident at Sixth and Junction streets. A vehicle headed southbound on Junction Street driven by Lorris Lillian Dorn, 95, of Winona, collided with a vehicle driven by Gregory Walter Tessendorf, 51, of Winona. A witness said that Dorn did not stop at a stop sign before the crash. She was cited for a stop sign violation and complained of minor injury.
Friday, February 11
•At 12:30 a.m. police spotted a recent vehicle accident at Fifth and North Baker Streets. A vehicle driven by Alyssa Ann White, 21, of Manion, Iowa, struck a parked car, spun out and struck a second car, and the second car she struck hit another parked car. Police said she appeared intoxicated and was cited for third degree driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content measured at .21 percent.
Thursday, February 10
•At 7:27 a.m. police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motorist at First Street South and Fremont Street in Lewiston. Jason Thomas Peshon, 37, of Lewiston, was stopped at a stop sign on First Street South, then pulled out and struck pedestrian Theresa Mary Sanow, 50, of Lewiston. Sanow said she thought he had seen her, while Peshon said he didn’t notice her enter the intersection. Peshon drove Sanow to meet with her husband who took her to the hospital. No one was cited.
•At 5:10 p.m. police were called to Elba on a report that a woman and her teenaged son were having problems with a neighbor. Linden Rexford Wilbright, 62, of St. Charles, was allegedly yelling at the teen and demanding a television and other items he said belonged to him. The mother and son said they didn’t have any of his things and Wilbright was arrested on a probation violation. Wilbright is restricted from contact with juveniles.
