March 3

Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on March 3, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed by a lunch of baked cod with rice blend, buttered cooked carrots, cole slaw, roll, lemon meringue pie and a beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. After lunch humorist Bessie Mae Miller (the shoulder pad lady) will present a laugh filled program and, maybe, some surprises. Please call Marge at 454-3433 no later than February 28 for reservations and if you need a ride.

The Hiawatha Valley Marines will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, at the Winona Area Veterans Center. All Marines and Corpsmen who served with the Marines are encouraged to attend. Members who are not current with their 2011 dues by the time of this meeting will be dropped from the rolls. A representative of the Boy Scout will attend this meeting to discuss the potential for cooperative efforts between HVM and the Boy Scouts in community service projects.

The Sequoia Society will meet on Thursday, March 3, at the home of Nancy Enochs. Mary Anne Lochner will present a program on Ireland.

The Winona Clown Club will meet on Thursday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of the Odd Fellows Hall at 961 West 5th St., Winona. All interested persons invited to attend. For further information, please call 507-452-5364 or look us up at www.winonaclownclub.org 

March 7

The Winona  Area Widowed  Persons will meet for a potluck at 12 noon at the Winona Senior Friendship Center on March 7. Bring a dish to pass, your own plates and silverware, beverages will be furnished. We will play “take away bingo” so bring a wrapped gift if you want to play. The executive board will meet at 11 a.m. before the potluck dinner at the Senior Center ( note new time and place)

 Breakfast will be at the Country Kitchen each Tuesday at 8 a.m. Dinners in March will be  at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Bub’s Brewing Co. 65 East 4th St.  

March 10

Please take notice that the Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, March 10, at 8:30 a.m. in the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura.

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson St., Winona. This month our meeting will center on the Second World War.  David Klein will be giving accounts of the experiences of many local WW II veterans during the Conflict.  All are invited and refreshments will be served.  Any questions call (507) 452-0568.

March 12

The Minnesota City Historical Association will meet Saturday, March  12, at the Riverway Learning Community, 115 Iowa Street, Minnesota City.  The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public. The agenda includes updates on Bob Bambenek’s March 20 census presentation and items for Minnesota City Day which will beheld on Saturday, May 21. March 14

NAMI Connection,  A mental illness support group will meet March 14, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Timber’s Restaurant’s back dining room.  There is no fee, just walk in and join us.  For more information call facilitators Richard Iverson (507) 454-5472, Judy McCormick (507) 459-3475 or Helen Newell at (507) 494-0905. March 14

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston.

March 16

Harvest House will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting.  The guest speaker will be Jade Fang who will speak on acupuncture.  Wear green for St. Patrick’s Day.  Bring a non-perishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served. Sign up sheets for Explore Inver Grove Heights April 29, Chanhassen “Jesus Christ Superstar,” May 11 and Mystery Trip, June 21. Overeater’s Anonymous meets Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church). Many have found a solution.

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.
