Wednesday, March 9
•At 11:36 p.m. police responded to a 911 hang-up call at the Maplewood Town Homes. Officers observed a vehicle running with two occupants inside near the residence in which the call originated. When the occupants of the vehicle were questioned, police said they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Both denied smoking the drug initially. One occupant, Kelly Jean Spalding, 28, of Minnesota City, was on probation requiring she abstain from the use of drugs. Police said a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) believed she was under the influence of marijuana and she was arrested on a probation violation. Spalding was requested to take a urine test to show whether she had consumed the drug. She refused but admitted to smoking marijuana. She was held on a probation violation.
Thursday, March 10
•At 4:53 p.m. police recognized a driver at Sixth and Huff streets as having no license and stopped the vehicle. Brandon David Taber, 35, of Winona, was cited for driving after cancelation and being inimical to public safety and no proof of insurance.
•At 1:05 p.m. police responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute at a residence on the 550 block of Vila Street, after responding to similar calls between the same two people several times during the day. When police arrived, a 26-year-old Winona man said that Nicki Renae Klein, 23, of Winona, had punched him in the head several times. Officers noted that the man had a red ear and arrested Klein on charges of domestic assault.
Friday, March 11
•At 1:12 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at Third and Main streets for running a red light. The driver, Erica Ann Jick, 24, of Winona, appeared intoxicated, according to police, and was cited for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content measured at .21 percent and violating the stop light.
