WSU announces men’s basketball recruits (05/19/2004)
Winona State University head men's basketball coach Mike Leaf has announced that four players have decided to play basketball at WSU for the 2004-05 season: Brent Riese of Brooklyn, Wis., Curtrel Robinson of Madison, Wis., Josh Korth of Chanhassen, Minn., and University of Wisconsin transfer Jermaine Flowers of Madison, Wis.

"These four young men are a perfect fit to our program," praised Leaf. "They all have awesome work ethic and bring a great deal of skill and enthusiasm from some very winning programs."

"Brent is an excellent outside shooter," said Leaf of Riese. "He handles the ball extremely well and has great court vision. He will help strengthen our backcourt."

Leaf went on to say that Robinson is very quick and can play a very hard-nose man-to-man defense. "He likes to take the ball to the basket, yet can also hit the three (-point field goal)," added Leaf.

Knowing how to win is an added feature for Korth explained Leaf. Korth "...can do so many things with his size (six-foot, seven-inches). He is one of the best three-point shooters in the state (Minnesota)."

As for Flowers, Leaf points out that one of his strongest features is his defense. "He can stop anyone. He has exceptionally quick feet and plays very physical. He makes everyone around him better and he will do some great things at Winona State University."

In rounding out his review of his recruits Leaf said. "Fundamentally they are incredibly sound. That is a tribute to their high school coaches.

"I look forward to seeing them in the purple and white."
