The Hiawatha Valley Marines will meet on Thursday, July 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Winona Area Veterans Center. All Marines and Corpsmen who served with the USMC are encouraged to attend. Agenda items will include plans for the Birthday Dinner, suggestions for the speaker at the dinner, establishment of a committee to assist in the implementation of the Toys for Tots Program, review of the fund raising effort for the Winona Veterans Memorial Park, and finalization of the plans for the Goodview Days Parade and the annual picnic.
Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on July 7, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed by a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of meatloaf, augratin potatoes, carrots, fresh fruit, lemon bars and beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. After lunch we will have Mr. Kevin Kearney, the Winona Police Department’s Chief Liaison Officer, talk on how to avoid fraud and all the scams being aimed at seniors. Reservations are a MUST. The Winona Apron Group has changed their meeting place this month. The group will meet at the Country Kitchen, 1611 Service Drive, Winona, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7. We will be discussing our upcoming sponsored, “Antiques to Treasures Marketplace” in August. If you have any aprons handmade to donate to sell or want to donate used in good condition aprons to sell please let me know or bring them to this monthly meeting, although they still can be dropped off at Magnolias, downtown Winona.
