July 25

Winona Area Retired Educators Association (WAREA) will hold their annual July picnic on Monday, July 25, at 12 noon at Faith Lutheran Church, 1717 Service Drive. Superintendent Scott Hannon and Mayor Jerry Miller are the featured speakers. Luncheon cost is $7.25 a meal with reservations required by July 18. Members, spouses, and guests are welcome. July 27

The regular monthly meeting of the Hiawatha Education District Board of Directors is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Hiawatha Valley Education District, 1410 Bundy Blvd., Winona.

August 4

The Hiawatha Valley Marines will meet on Thursday, August 4, at the Winona Area Veterans Center at 7:00 p.m. All Marines and Corpsmen who served with the USMC are urged to attend. Agenda items will include Identification of the speaker for the USMC birthday dinner, finalization of plans for the Goodview Days Parade and the annual picnic, involvement of spouses/significant others in the HVMs, and the focus of the Hiawatha Valley Marines as a social or community service organization.

Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on August 4, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass. It will be followed by a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of baked chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, fruit salad, peach desert and beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. After lunch we will be entertained by singer and musician Patti Darbo. Reservations are a MUST. Please call Marge at 454-3433 no later than August 1st for reservations and if you need a ride. All are welcome.

August 16

The Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Partnership Relations Committee will meet on Tuesday, August 16, at 1:00 p.m. to continue discussions on the development of a cooperative agreement between the SWCD and the County, focused on a draft outline compiled by the SWCD. The meeting will take place at the 2nd floor conference room at the Winona County Government Center.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church). Many have found a solution.

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

Addicted?  Be Set Free!  Set Free! is a twelve week program to help you achieve victory over your addicting behaviors.  New members are welcome any time.  We meet weekly at Calvary Baptist Church, 676 W. Sarnia St., Winona,  at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings.  For more information call 452-6850.
