The Lois Club will meet Tuesday, August 30, at 5:30 p.m. at the Country Kitchen.
The Hiawatha Valley Marines will meet at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, at the Winona American Legion Veterans Center. The primary purpose of the meeting will be to evaluate and decide if the focus of the Hiawatha Valley Marines will community service, a social organization, or some combination of these. All members are strongly urged to attend and participate in formulating the direction that the organization will take in the future.
Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on September 1, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed by a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, strawberry fluff salad, green beans, apple bars with ice cream and beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. The Widowed Persons Service will meet Monday, September 5, at the Winona Senior Friendship Center at 5 p.m. for a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share and your own tableware; beverages will be provided. Bring a $1 wrapped gift for “take-a-way” bingo. Breakfast is each Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Country Kitchen. September dinners will be on Thursdays (1, 8, 22, 29) at the Ground Round at 5:30 p.m., and on the 15th it will be at Ginnys in Rollingstone The special noon lunch will be on September 28, at The Cove in Buffalo City. We will gather for the first AAUW Winona meeting for 2011-12 at the WSU Purple Rooms on Saturday, September 10. The schedule for the day will be a 9:00 a.m. social followed by a 9:30 a.m. meeting and program at 10:00 a.m. Our branch program presented by Kay Shaw will be an overview of the April State Convention and shared experiences and memories of the AAUW National Convention attended by Rose and Joan.
