September 8

The Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, September 8, at 8:30 a.m. in the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura.

Natural Living Group meets September 8, 6:30 p.m. at the Houston Nature Center, Houston, Minn. Free educational event! - Topic: Wellness Through Meridian Tapping.  Contact Tricia 896-4752

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet Thursday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor (take the elevator) of the History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona., The topic for this meeting will be “Horses in the Civil War” as presented by Andy Straseke.  All are invited and refreshments will be served.

The Winona Apron Group will be meeting at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, at Beno’s Deli back meeting room. Questions on the meeting or membership contact Sandy Erdman at sandyssweetnothings@yahoo.com

September 10

We will gather for the first AAUW Winona meeting for 2011-12 at the WSU Purple Rooms on Saturday, September 10. The schedule for the day will be a 9:00 a.m. social followed by a 9:30 a.m. meeting and program at 10:00 a.m. Our branch program presented by Kay Shaw will be an overview of the April State Convention and shared experiences and memories of the AAUW National Convention attended by Rose and Joan. Marian Carroll will have available the special interest groups sign-up sheets. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

The monthly meeting of the Minnesota City Historical Association will be Saturday, September 10, at the First Baptist Church, 140 Mill Street, Minnesota City.  The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public. The agenda includes updates on  the signing of historic sites and the fall program. September 12

The Stockton-Rollingstone-Minnesota City Watershed District meeting will be held on Monday, September 12, at 8:00 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center, Stockton.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas will meet on Monday September 12, for a free soup and dessert meal in Holy Family Hall, Cathedral. Rosary and meeting will follow. Ready Set School items will be collected. Remember your Pill Bottle Charity.

The Chautauqua Club’s first meeting of the year will be on Monday, September 12, at noon at the home of Kim Schwab. Michelle Lenertz will co-hostess.  The meeting is the fall potluck. Food assignments were chosen last spring. Please contact President Cindy Donahue with any questions.

September 19

The Winona Shrine Auxiliary will meet on September 19, at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at Westfield. Lunch will be spaghetti and meatballs, garlic breadsticks, Italian blend vegetables, salad and dessert. Please call Connie Wood for reservations at 454-1781.

September 21

Harvest House, a non-profit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, September 21, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus hall.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting, followed by bingo.

Bring an unwrapped prize for bingo, coupons for the military and a non-perishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served.

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston.

MOPS: Mothers of Preschoolers Group first meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday, September 21, at Living Light Church in Winona. We meet the first and third Wednesdays each month, September through May. Meeting times are 9-11 a.m. and childcare is available. Go to www.mops.org for more information.
