Winona Soil & Water Conservation District Cover Crop program (09/21/2011)
The Winona Soil & Water Conservation District will once again be offering cost-share for landowners to plant cover crops within the Rush-Pine Creek Watershed in Winona County. This cover crop program is to provide financial assistance to landowners for planting cover crops on idle ground after early harvested crops like peas, sweet corn, corn for silage, early harvested soybeans, etc. The cost-share rate is $20/acre with certain eligibility limitations. Seeding deadline is October 15, and to be eligible, an approved application is required prior to planting. For more information on eligibility requirements and to request an application, please contact Daryl at the SWCD Office at (507) 523-2171 ext. 3 or stop in at 400 Wilson Street, Lewiston. Information is also available at www.winonaswcd.org.
