Wings Over Alma is currently hosting an invitational art exhibit entitled "Horse & Harvest." The exhibit runs through November 15th at the Nature & Art Center located in downtown Alma, Wisconsin. Featured in “Horse & Harvest” are original oils, pastels, watercolors and photographs by local and regional artists. The exhibiting artists include: Jean Accola, Sherri Anderson, Tony Bernicke, Jan Brunkow, Kathleen D’angelo, Wendy Ike, Nadine Leo, John Meyer, Sue Mundy, Gail Pommerening, Warren Rivette, Nettie Runions, Kristi Schumacher and Rebecca VanAcker.
The subject matter of the exhibit varies from a close up photograph of a horse's eye by Kristi Schumacher, entitled "Reflections of The World" to herds of galloping horses, golden fields ripe for harvest and even canning jars. To see canning jars through the eyes of an artist gives a person a whole new appreciation for everyday objects. Nelson artist, Sherri Anderson rendered the simple jars beautifully in pastel.
"Horse & Harvest" will run through November 15 and can be viewed at the Nature & Art Center from 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week. The Exhibition is free and open to the public. The next exhibit at Wings Over Alma will be a Holiday Gift Show encouraging local shopping in our small towns, and Wings Over Alma will be holding their annual Spaghetti Feed Fund Raiser with silent auction at Danzinger Vineyards on Sunday, October 16th from 2:30- 6:30p.m. Present at the fund raiser will be special guest artist Gail Pommerening, who won the 2011 wine label contest.
