September 27

The Winona Area Crime Stoppers Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, September 27, at the Timbers Restaurant in Winona.  The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

September 28

The regular monthly meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Education District Board of Directors is Wednesday, September 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Hiawatha Valley Education District, 1410 Bundy Blvd, Winona.

October 6

The Hiawatha Valley Marines will hold their monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday 6 October at the Winona Area Veteran’s Center. All members, former Marines, and Corpsmen who served with the USMC are urged to attend. Items to be discussed will include the MIssion of the HVM, details for the Birthday Dinner on 10 NOV 11, Toys for Tots, and the invitation to significant others to become active in the HVMs.

Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on October 6, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed by a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of stroganoff over noodles, lettuce salad with dressing on the side, creamy mandarin orange salad, roll, apple bars and beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. After lunch we will hear about senior eye care and concerns from parishioner Dr Laurel Quinn. Reservations are a MUST and NONE WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE. The DEADLINE for reservations is OCTOBER 4. Please call Marge at 454-3433 no later than October 4th for reservations and if you need a ride. All are welcome.

October 9

The Luxembourg American Society and the Rollingstone Luxembourg Heritage Museum members will meet at the Senior Center in the Rollingstone Park at 1 p.m. on October 9. On the agenda will be the Treipenfest and election of officers. Refreshments will be served. For transportation or additional information call 507-689-2307. The museum will be open Sunday, October 9 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon for tours. Admission is free. Quilts made by the Holy Trinity Quilters will be on sale as well as cookbooks, shirts, and other items.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church). Many have found a solution.

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

If you’re hurting after a divorce, you need the Rebuilding Program, open to men and women, not affiliated with any church or religious group. The group meets the first and third Sunday of every month from 6-8 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church, 259 West Wabasha Street, Winona. Addicted?  Be Set Free!  Set Free! is a twelve week program to help you achieve victory over your addicting behaviors.  New members are welcome any time.  We meet weekly at Calvary Baptist Church, 676 W. Sarnia St., Winona,  at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings.  For more information call 452-6850. 

NAMI Connection:  A Mental Illness Support Group meets every Monday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the PSN Building, 122 W. 2nd St., (next to Sammy’s Pizza).  There is no fee, just walk in and join us.  For more information call facilitators Richard Iverson (507) 454-5472, Judy McCormick (507) 459-3475 or Helen Newell at (507) 494-0905. Mental Illness:  Family to Family Support Group meets the second Monday of the month from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Winona Health - Parkview Conference Room.  The next meeting will be Monday, September 12.  No fee just walk in and join us. Enter the hospital’s main door, turn right, at the hallway take another right. Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program where participants support and encourage one another on the road to recovery from Hurts, Habit, Hang-ups and Addictions. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. Winona Widowed Persons Service-No monthly meeting in October. Breakfast remains at the Country  Kitchen every Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. The evening meals will be 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays at Timbers.
