Meetings (10/30/2011)
November 3

The monthly meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Marines will be held at the Winona Area Veterans Center at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday November 3. The agenda will include finalization of plans and assignments for the USMC birthday dinner to be held at the Winona Veterans Center on November 10, and the vigil to be held at the Winona Veterans Memorial Park on 11 November. Also to be discussed will be the status of the Toys For Tots collection activities and activities to be completed. All members of the Hiawatha Valley Marines, former US Marines and Corpsmen who served with the USMC are urges to attend.

Cathedral’s Young At Heart group will meet on November 3, starting with a 12:10 p.m. Mass for those who wish to attend. It will be followed by a lunch at 12:45 p.m. of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, turkey dressing, cranberries, buttered carrots, roll, pumpkin pie with Cool Whip and a beverage. The cost of the meal is $3.00. After lunch we will have a time of remembrance for our deceased loved ones. You may speak in honor of your loved one or bring a small item to honor them. Father Cronin will lead us in a short service. Reservations are a MUST and NONE WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE. The DEADLINE for reservations is November 1. Please call Marge at 454-3433 no later than November 1 for reservations and if you need a ride. All are welcome.

The Minnesota City First Baptist Ladies Aid will meet Thursday, November 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the Country Kitchen.

November 9

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston.

November 10

The Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, November 10, at 8:30 a.m. in the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura.

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will hold its next meeting on Thursday, November 10, at 7:00 p.m., on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160  Johnson Street, Winona. The topic for the presentation this evening is “Equipment of the U. S. Civil War Cavalry,” as presented by John Arndt.  He will also show some examples of this equipment.  All are invited and refreshments will be served.

November 14

The November meeting of the Chautauqua Club will be held on Monday, November 14, at noon.  The meeting will be hosted by Judy Rusert, co-hosted by Linda Olson, with a program presented by Pat Malotka. Members who can not attend are encouraged to let the hostess know.

The Catholic Daughters of the  Americas will meet on November 14, for 5:15 p.m. Mass for departed members of the    Catholic Daughters.  A potluck dinner to follow.  Please bring a dish to pass and your table service.  Meeting will follow with a Ditty Bag report.

November 16

Harvest House will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, November 16, at 1:30 in St. Stanislaus Hall. Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting.  Our guest speaker is Donna Peterson to talk on the Underground Railroad.   Bring a nonperishable food item for a needy family and coupons for the military.  Lunch will be served. There will be sign up sheets for Christmas dinner December 21, North Heights “All Things New” March 31, and Fanny Hill “Fox on the Fairway” April 19. Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. Winona Area Widowed Persons Service-No meeting in November, but there will be a Christmas dinner on December 5, at 5 p.m.  at the Winona Friendship Center. Breakfast will be Tuesday mornings at 8 a.m. at the Country Kitchen. November dinners will be at Jeffersons  on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. There will be a board meeting November 15,  at 9 a.m. at  the Country Kitchen. Call 452 8334 for more information.
