•At 1:24 a.m. an officer noticed a disturbance in the parking lot behind Schyde’s Drinks and Whatnot. The officer drove closer to the scene and saw two people holding an unconscious man up and a vehicle drive away. The officer felt the occupants of the vehicle may have been involved in the assault, and officers pulled it over at Fourth and Johnson streets. Police said witness descriptions suggested that the passenger, Jerry Phipps, 24, of Winona, had been involved in the assault, but the 22-year-old victim did not want to press charges. He was arrested on a probation violation. The driver, Bradley Thomas-Jordan Wyer, 23, of Winona, allegedly showed signs of intoxication and was cited for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content measured at .11 percent.

•At 12:17 a.m. police received a call from an employee at the Minnesota Kwik Trip reporting a man who appeared intoxicated had driven away from the store. Police stopped the vehicle at Highway 61 and County Road 32. The driver, Steven Charles Pagel, 52, allegedly appeared intoxicated and was cited for driving while intoxicated, test refusal, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
