January 9

The January 9, board meeting of the Stockton, Rollingstone, Minnesota City Watershed District will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center.

The Ruskin Study Club will meet Monday January 9, at the home of Susan Eddy.  Colleen Brenner will serve as hostess. Jean Hayes will present a paper.  Members are reminded to call the hostess if unable to attend.

January 12

The Whitewater Joint Powers Board will meet on Thursday, January 12, at 8:30 a.m. in the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura.

The Hiawatha Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, January 12, at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Winona County History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. This will be a two-part meeting.  Allan Aldinger will give a presentation on Civil War veterans- the John Ball Post of Winona and the Frank Videto Post of Witoka.  This will be followed by a DVD lecture by a noted Civil War scholar on “The River War and Confederate Commerce Raiders.” All are invited and refreshments will be served.  Any questions, phone (507) 452-0568.

January 16

Winona Shrine Auxiliary will meet at Westfield Golf Club on Monday, January 16, at 11:30 a.m. The menu will be pork chops with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, California blend vegetables, and apple cake dessert. For reservations call Connie Wood at 454-1781. Winter weather policy: there will be no meeting or lunch if Winona public schools are closed or two hours late.


January 18

Harvest House, a nonprofit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, January 18, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Hall.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting.  Our guest speaker will be Chief of Police Paul Bostrack. Bring a nonperishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served. Sign up sheets for Easter Play “All Things New” Mar. 31 and Fanny Hill “Fox on the Fairway” Apr. 19.  Nonmembers are welcome on our trips.  For more information, call Mary Jane at 454-8488 or Mary Ann at 452-5587.

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.
