January 18

Harvest House, a nonprofit, non-denominational organization for 50 and getting better, will hold their monthly meeting Wednesday, January 18, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Hall.  Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Breza as celebrant, for those wishing to attend. There will be a business meeting.  Our guest speaker will be Chief of Police Paul Bostrack. Bring a nonperishable food item for a needy family.  Lunch will be served. Sign up sheets for Easter Play “All Things New” Mar. 31 and Fanny Hill “Fox on the Fairway” Apr. 19.  Nonmembers are welcome on our trips.  For more information, call Mary Jane at 454-8488 or Mary Ann at 452-5587.

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston.

January 19

Minnesota City Community Readers will meet on Thursday, January 19,  6:30 p.m., at Riverway Learning Community, 115 Iowa Street, Minnesota City, to discuss J.D. Salinger’s novel, The Catcher in the Rye. The public is invited to the discussion, whether or not they have read the book.  

January 20

Bundles of Love meeting January 20, Senior Friendship Center, 251 Main Street, Winona 12:00-3:30 p.m. Volunteers who can sew, cut out material, crochet or knit are needed. . Winona Area Retired Educators Association (WAREA) will meet Monday, January 23, at 8:30 a.m. at Perkins in Winona. Note the change in location where all will order from the menu and network. The Winona Area Crime Stoppers Board of Directors monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 24, at Timbers Restaurant in Winona.   The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. and is open to the public.

January 25

The organizational meeting of the Hiawatha Valley Educational District Board of Directors will be January 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Hiawatha Valley Education District, 1410 Bundy Blvd., Winona.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Addicted? Set Free! is a twelve week program to help you achieve victory over your addicting behaviors. New members are welcome any time. We meet weekly at Calvary Baptist Church, 676 W. Sarnia St., Winona,  at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings.  For more information call 452-6850.

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.  A family support group meets in Winona at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, at Winona Health, in the Parkview conference room, 855 Mankato Ave. For information, call Helen at 507-494-0905.

Widowed Meet and Eat meets on Mondays at 11 a.m., at Perkins. Please call 452-1555, for information and reservations.

The Winona Area Widowed Persons Service will no longer exist as of January 31, 2012. We will continue our breakfast and dinner groups. We will be known as the Widowed Persons Social Group. Breakfast every Tuesday at 8 a.m. at Country Kitchen. Dinners on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. - January at Country Kitchen; February at Culvers; March at Timbers; April at Perkins; (subject to changes if needed). All widowed persons and/or guests are welcome.
