Pheasants Forever holds youth hunt
The Winona/Root River Pheasants Forever chapter held its annual fall youth hunt at the Summer Drift Hunting Preserve near Rushford, Minn. Twelve youth from southeastern Minnesota participated in this year’s hunt. This group of young hunters learned the proper technique for shooting clay pigeons and gun safety. They had an up-close look at conservation and habitat practices ranging from native prairie grasses and forbs, to food plots and shelter-belts. They learned the benefit of these conservation practices for wildlife habitat, soil conservation and water quality. Each young hunter had the opportunity to hunt with a mentor and a professional trained hunting dog.
