March 1

Young At Heart will meet Thursday, March 1, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for Mass at 12:10 p.m. followed by a catered meal of pork loin mashed potatoes with pork gravy, pickled beets, strawberry whipped salad, lemon bars, roll and drink. Cost of the meal is only $3.00. After the meal there will be a harp concert by Sr. Mary Jo Baldus. Please call Marge at 454-3433 no latter than noon on February 27, for your reservation and if you need a ride. You do not need to be a parishioner to attend. All are welcome.

The Hiawatha Valley Marines will meet on Thursday, March 1, at 7:00 p.m. at the Winona Area Veterans Center. Agenda items will include a review of the status of 2012 scheduled events, and further discussion and decisions concerning the USMC birthday celebration. All Marines and Corpsmen who served with the Marines are encouraged to attend.

The Minnesota City First Baptist Ladies Aid will meet Thursday, March 1, at 1:30 pm. at the home of Jean Gardner.

March 8

The Whitewater Joint Powers board will meet on Thursday, March 8, at 8:30 a.m. in the Whitewater State Park Visitor’s Center, 19041 Hwy 74, Altura.

The Hiawatha Valley Civil War Round Table will meet on Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m., on the second floor of the History Center, 160 Johnson Street, Winona. The presentation by James Parlow will deal with a relatively unknown chapter of Civil War history, entitled “the greatest unarmed hero” of the Civil War.   All are invited to this unusual presentation, and refreshments will be served.  Any questions, phone  (507) 452-0568.

March 12

The monthly board meeting for the Stockton, Rollingstone, Minnesota City, Watershed District will be held on March 12, at 7:00 p.m. at the Stockton Community Center, 600 D street, Stockton.

March 14

Winona County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular monthly board meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at the Ag Service Center in Lewiston.

Overeater’s Anonymous meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. at 1717 Service Drive ( Faith Lutheran Church).

Al-Anon Family Group Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., St. Augustine Room, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 360 Main Street. A 12-step fellowship for families of problem drinkers. 452-4445 for more information.

Addicted? Set Free! is a twelve week program to help you achieve victory over your addicting behaviors. New members are welcome any time. We meet weekly at Calvary Baptist Church, 676 W. Sarnia St., Winona,  at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings.  For more information call 452-6850. 

Celebrate Recovery meets Friday nights at Pleasant Valley Church, 1363 Homer Road, Winona. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program. If  you are looking for encouragement, strength and hope in your life please join us. Our evenings begin at 6:00 with dinner followed by worship, large group and small group discussions. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness.  Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences.  A family support group meets in Winona at 7:00 p.m., on the second Monday of the month, at Winona Health, in the Parkview conference room, 855 Mankato Ave. For information, call Helen at 507-494-0905.

Widowed Meet and Eat meets on Mondays at 11 a.m., at Perkins. Please call 452-1555, for information and reservations.

The Widowed Persons Social Group meets for breakfast every Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Country Kitchen. Dinners every Thursday at 5:30 p.m.-February at Culvers, March at Timbers, April at Perkins. All widowed people welcome. For information or if a ride is needed call Gen at 507-452-8334
