[Recent news reports on bullying] got me to thinking not so much about the bullies that exist in our communities (that issue is bad enough) but about the parents (and I use that term very loosely) who are raising children to be undisciplined abusers...brutal predators on other children.
You parents...where are you in all of this? It’s YOUR fault that bullies roam school campuses here and elsewhere in America. What kind of role models are YOU? Who do you want as cultural and social role models for your children...Rosa Parks? Helen Keller? Eleanor Roosevelt? Jackie Robinson? John L. Lewis? Ernest Hemingway? Irving Berlin? Sidney Poitier? Mohandas Gandhi? Norman Rockwell? Alex Haley? These men and women are but a few to chose from...there are countless others your children should become acquainted with...before it’s too late.
Maybe you haven’t thought much about this. Well, you better start thinking about it. All of you had better start showing more of an interest and paying more attention to YOUR children right now because this nation is creating more juvenile hoodlums of both genders than it should have to tolerate.
It’s a right and privilege to have children. It’s an OBLIGATION to bring them up properly.
