May, 2012, is the inaugural celebration of the 600+ museums in Minnesota called Minnesota Museums Month. The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is proud to play a part in recognizing the important roles that museums play in the quality of life, educational enhancement, and economy of our state.
In celebration, the Museum is presenting two programs, one of which is for families and the other for adults. For the first program, which will take place on Saturday, May 19th from 10 – 11am, the MMAM will present its Family Storytelling program, with a special theme of “Minnesota Museums Rock.” During the program, Museum Educator Heather Casper will read and tell stories, and lead an art-making activity. All ages are welcome, but activities will be geared to children ages 4-8. No reservation is necessary.
Also in celebration of Minnesota Museums Month, the MMAM will present a free, special program with the MMAM Director and Curators. Museum FAQ: Ask Your Curator! will take place on Tuesday, May 22nd from 12noon – 1pm. Pack a brown bag lunch and bring it to the Museum’s Education Room to join the discussion. This is an opportunity for people to ask questions to your museum’s leadership and program staff, ranging from how the MMAM functions, to the art currently on display. No reservation is necessary, however, the space for this program can only accommodate 40 people.
The Museum FAQ program is free thanks to the support of Ernest and Sally Micek in memory of W. B. “Bill” Gautsch.
