Can we imagine people shaking their fists heavenward and saying “God, get out of our lives! We don’t need you!” Regrettably, there are more and more hate-filled individuals who don’t want God and His word to be a part of their lives. They are insisting that God and His word must never be mentioned in America; they want to silence the voices of Biblical Christians too.
Now are Americans doing enough to stop this attempt to rid America of any semblance of God? When God and His word are becoming more of a byword, how can we expect the oncoming generations to comprehend the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?
When any mention of God and His word are to be shunned and forced into our closets, how can we expect God to continue to bless America? God’s blessings are going to be replaced with God’s condemnation.
Abraham Lincoln said these words in 1863: Those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord...We know that by His divine law, nations like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisement in this world...We have been recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown, but we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.
There is an urgent need for an awakening in America to the need of God in everyone’s life. After all, even though man will foolishly try to rid America of God, God will still exist and so will our need of a Savior.
What will change the heart of Americans to come back to God and His precepts? Perhaps a rude awakening?
